Back to School!

It's that time of the year again. We are getting ready for school to start next week! For many, its back to waking up before the sun rise and rushing out of the house. My parents have started adjusting our sleeping time, so we get used to the early mornings. While there are things I don't like about school days, there are other things that I'm really looking forward to.
FRIENDS
The best thing about going back to school is meeting my friends. After a long break, I can't wait for our chats, play and jokes together. Some of us will be in different classes this year, but that's okay. I'll catch them during recess. For us in Singapore, the year-end break is our longest and best holiday. But that also means there will be so much to chat and laugh about when we get back!
Recess, Playtime
The next best thing is RECESS, where I get to buy the food that I like to eat from the school canteen. Some of my friends (me included) pack a small box of food from home just in case the queue gets a little to long, but the real fun is just having the freedom to sit and chat or even run around the field.
Teachers Who Inspire
At the start of each year, we usually wait in anticipation to meet our new teachers. Teachers make such a big difference to the school year, and I sure hope that my subject teachers make lessons funny and interesting. My parents tell me they remember their inspiring teachers even today and they were in school a really long time ago.
Routine, routine, routine
While holidays are free and easy, it is easier settling into a fixed schedule. Having a daily routine helps me know what to expect. Thankfully my days are not packed full, and although I have some additional classes after school, I enjoy all the friends and teachers I meet along the way.
Events and Celebration
School is not just about lessons. It’s also about special events and excursions to places. I’m looking forward to the learning journeys and the activities planned for us this year that make the school term fun. Going out with my teachers and friends feel is a different experience than going with my family, and I enjoy the bus rides where we can just laugh together as a class. We also get to explore Singapore together, and though I’ve been to many of these places with my family, nothing beats having your friends around to poke fun at things!
What are you looking forward to in your school year?
