Did you know that genetics, or our parents’ eye color, is mainly what decides our eye color? Surprisingly, while people in some countries tend to have blue or brown eyes, these are not so much caused by the colder environments they live in but rather the genetics that their parents pass on to them. Since the eye colour is passed on through genes, so does the chance of having some eye related diseases and sickness.
So what are the common eye colours that people have? According to my research, 8 out of 10 people have brown eyes and about 1 in 10 have blue eyes. For the last 1 in 10, it is a mix of hazel, yellow, gray and green. That’s a lot of brown eyes! Remember that eye colour is passed on by our parents to us? It turns out that the ‘mixing’ of these colours sometimes produce eye colour that can be totally different from parents, that explains the rare friend you have with hazel eyes.
