Why do adults go to work?

Two weeks ago, I was at Sentosa with my family and we walked past Kidzania Singapore while walking around the beach. We decided to go in to try it out, and I ended up spending 5 hours of my Saturday afternoon playing (it was soooo fun!). At Kidzania, I had to work different jobs to earn money so that I could exchange it for toys and souvenirs at the end. I tried loads of different jobs but my favourite was the Shopee delivery, money delivery and dentist stations. It made me understand a little why my dad goes to work.

Earn money

As my mother always tells me, my dad goes to work every weekday to earn money for us. We need money for everything that we do, from buying food to toys, taking the MRT train or even renting a bike at the park.

Everything needs money, its like we exchange money with each other for these things. Because my dad works so hard, I really don’t like wasting his money on things that I don’t need. If something is really expensive, I rather do without it or wait till I can get a cheaper version of it from Taobao.

‘Impact and Learning

My dad shares with us that he also finds it meaningful when he helps others at his work place. He talks about it when he makes an ‘impact’ in someone else’s life because of what he does. I’m glad that his work allows him to do that! He also tells u about the different things he learns at work, whether its about how food is made or how the toys we see at ToysRUs gets delivered to the shop.

Work friends

I remember when my dad brought me to his office one Saturday and I saw how many computer monitors there were where he was at. He said that that was his department and that he worked with many people. He said that he worked in a team all the time, that’s the same as what I do in school where I learn with my friends!

I’m so glad that I learnt about work and earning money. Most of all, I loved that I was able to exchange my money for something I liked, it made the toy even more special!
